RB commits to RU

Three years after landing career rushing leader Ray Rice when Syracuse fired Paul Pasqualoni, Rutgers is hoping to catch some late recruiting magic with its latest verbal commitment.

Four-star RB Onterrio McCalebb, who decommitted from West Virginia when coach Rich Rodriguez left to take the Michigan job, has given the Scarlet Knights a verbal commitment, according to stateofrutgers.com

McCalebb, a 6-0, 170-pounder from Fort Meade (Fla.) High School, had offers from Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss, North Carolina and South Florida before giving his commitment to West Virginia. Ray Rice, the best running back in Rutgers history, decommitted from Syracuse because of Pasqualoni's firing and opted instead for the Knights.
